Armourer's Scrap in Path of Exile 2 adds up to 20% quality on armour for stronger base defences; farm drops or salvage superior gear at the Salvage Bench, then use it before sockets/links for best value.

In Path of Exile 2, you don't die because you didn't read a boss tooltip. You die because you got clipped once and your armour wasn't doing its job. Armourer's Scrap is the quiet fix for that, and it matters more than people admit. If you're trying to keep your crafting rolling without stalling out, a lot of players will top up basics through trading or quick purchases on EZNPC when their stash is dry, then get back to actually mapping instead of penny-pinching every click.

What Scraps Really Do

Quality on armour isn't a vanity stat. It boosts the item's base defences, which is exactly what your life pool leans on when you mess up a dodge. The annoying part is how the returns change depending on rarity. On normal gear, each Scrap gives a big 5% quality, so you can hit 20% fast and feel smart about it. On magic items it drops to 2%, and on rare or unique pieces it's a painful 1% per use. That's why "I'll just quality it later" turns into "where did all my Scraps go" the moment you upgrade into real endgame gear.

Stop Waiting for Drops

Scraps do drop, sure, but it's not something you want to gamble your setup on. The steady supply comes from salvaging, and you want the Salvage Bench online as early as you can. In Act 1, push the quest that unlocks it, then treat every superior armour piece like a little battery you can crack open. Also, don't ignore vendors. Every time you level, take a quick look, use the search bar for "quality," and buy the cheap superior junk with gold. Salvage it. It feels boring, but it's the kind of boring that keeps your chest piece at 20% when it matters.

Using Them Without Wasting Them

There's a right order to this, and most people learn it the expensive way. Put quality on the base before you start messing with sockets, links, or anything else that's going to eat currency. That 1% per quality point to your odds doesn't sound like much, then you're 40 attempts deep and suddenly it does. If you're low on Scraps, don't spend them "fixing" rares. Quality up a white base first, then essence or alch it. Same end result, way less pain. And yeah, right-click Scrap, left-click armour—simple, but the timing is the whole trick.

Keeping Your Stash Under Control

Once you get into the habit of salvaging, you'll swing from starving to swimming in them. They stack to 40, so storage isn't the issue; discipline is. Don't hoard forever, and don't sprinkle quality on items you're replacing in an hour. Keep a working stack for your best bases, feed the Salvage Bench regularly, and if you do decide to trade for supplies, it helps to know what your time is worth when browsing options like POE 2 Currency instead of running another lap around vendors just to stay afloat.
